How To Make This Autumn Feel Magical
There’s something I can’t quite explain about autumn that makes ordinary life feel much more magical.
The beautifully gloomy mornings, crisp autumn air, oversized sweaters, cinnamon scented everything and watching TV shows like Gilmore Girls and Pretty Little Liars until late at night. The cosy bedrooms and darker evenings are the perfect excuse to slow down and appreciate the small and often overlooked aspects of life.
You don’t need a completely different life to have a beautiful autumn and that’s not what romanticising is truly about. Sometimes, it’s just about changing the way you experience the one you already have and appreciating it despite it’s flaws and blemishes.
So put on your favourite autumn playlist, grab a blanket, make a hot drink and let’s romanticise the season!!
Make Your Mornings Feel Special

• Instead of waking up late and having to rush, spend a little more time getting ready. Open your curtains, make your bed, put on some music and make yourself a warm drink before getting ready!
• Pick out outfits that you genuinely love wearing and make sure they’re cosy! (Knitted sweaters, cardigans, sweatpants & loads of layers).
• Use fall inspired shower/skincare products and go for scents such as cinnamon, vanilla, sticky toffee, etc! If you use makeup, definitely stick to warm tones like browns and beige. You could also try recreating autumn inspired makeup looks by watching tutorials!!

Find Your Autumn Drink

• Autumn is the perfect excuse to find your signature drink.
• Pumpkin spice latte’s, maple cinnamon, chai lattes, hot chocolate. Literally anything that makes you feel cosy and excited for the season.
• Try making one at home and give yourself a little cafe moment. Put it in your favourite mug, add cinnamon or whipped cream, and sit somewhere comfortable while you read, journal or watch something.
• You could also find a local cafe to sit in or study with your new favourite drink!!

Create a Cosy Reading Ritual

• Pick up a book you’ve been wanting to read. Whether that be one sitting on your bedside table or a completely new one from a bookstore and make it your official autumn read.
• Find a cosy corner, put your phone away, make a warm drink and read for twenty minutes before bed. You could even keep a little list of the books you finish throughout the season.
• If you want maximum autumn atmosphere, read somewhere with a rainy window nearby. (Completely optional, but highly encouraged!!)
• Pick books from genres that remind you of autumn. Anything such as dark academia, gothic fiction, cosy fantasy, horror, and classic literature work very well.

Make an Autumn Playlist

• Create a playlist filled with songs that remind you of crisp mornings, long walks, school days, rainy car journeys and getting ready with your friends.
• Bands such as: The Smiths, Radiohead, The Sundays and The Cranberries are my go to’s for my autumn playlist, but just find what works for you!
• You could even make different playlists for different moods: morning walks, studying, rainy days, getting ready and late night drives.
• Years from now, hearing those songs again will take you straight back to this autumn.

Give Your Bedroom a Little Autumn Makeover

• You don’t have to ENTIRELY redecorate your room, just add a few autumnal touches.
• Change your bedding, add a soft blanket, rearrange your bedside table, put some fairy lights up, or bring in a few autumn inspired decorations.
• Keep your favourite perfumes and lotions somewhere visible, organise your books, and make your room a place you actually want to spend time in this fall.
• Fall scented candles are also a must. Anything cinnamon or pumpkin spice is perfect.

Go on Autumn Adventures

• I know it’s easy but don’t let this autumn become nothing but school and homework!
• To fully appreciate the season, make sure you engage in activities and events that feel like autumn to you!
• Some ideas include:
- Go on a walk and take photos of the leaves.
- Visit a bookshop.
- Go to a café you’ve never tried.
- Have a picnic on a crisp afternoon.
- Visit a pumpkin patch.
- Go apple picking.
- Take a spontaneous trip somewhere nearby.

Make Your Evenings Slower

• One of the best things about autumn is having darker evenings. Instead of spending the entire night scrolling, create a little evening ritual.
• Have a shower, put on comfortable pyjamas, do your skincare, make a warm drink and spend some time reading, journalling or watching your favourite show.
• Try putting your phone away for the last thirty minutes before bed. (This is the perfect time to swap your scrolling time for a chapter of your new book)
• There is something incredibly comforting about knowing that your day is finished and you can simply relax.

Romanticise Studying

• Autumn and studying were practically made for each other and some of my favourite memories include studying in cafes with my friends during exam season.
• Tidy your desk, make a drink, put on an autumn playlist and get your work done somewhere cosy. If you’re able to, take your books to a café or library occasionally for a change of scenery.
• You can even make a little ritual out of it: study for an hour, take a short break, have a snack, then get back to it!!
. ݁ ₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.. ݁₊ ⊹
Start an Autumn Journal

• Keep a little record of the season, years from now you’ll be glad you did! And you could even create a memory book if you wanted to go one step further.
• Write down things you’re grateful for, songs you’re loving, books you’ve read, funny things that happened at school, places you’ve visited and little moments you don’t want to forget.
• You could also make an autumn bucket list and tick things off as you go.
• There’s something lovely about looking back and realising how many tiny memories you collected without even noticing.

Have Your Own Autumn Movie Nights

• Make a list of films and TV shows that feel like autumn and work your way through it. My personal favourites are Gilmore Girls, Pretty Little Liars and Dead Poets Society!
• Get into your comfiest clothes, make popcorn, do some baking, turn the lights down and make an evening of it.
• You could even invite your friends over for a movie night and ask everyone to bring a snack.
• Sometimes the best way to romanticise your life is simply to give yourself an excuse to spend time with people you love.
. ݁ ₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.. ݁₊ ⊹
Create An Autumn Bucket List

• One of the funnest parts about autumn is the fact you get to plan activities to do, movies to watch, and things to see.
• Make a list of everything you want to do this autumn and work your way through them all. You could even turn it into a game and assign points to each activity (e.g. going to a pumpkin patch = 20 points, baking cookies = 10 points).
Some activities you could consider may be:
- Visit a cosy café
- Read an autumn book
- Make a seasonal drink
- Have a movie night
- Go on a long autumn walk
- Make an autumn playlist
- Bake something
- Visit a pumpkin patch
- Take photos of the changing leaves
- Buy or thrift an autumn outfit
- Have a sleepover
- Start an autumn journal

I love this so much! I get so excited for fall and all the coziness but sadly I live somewhere that doesn’t really get an actual fall and stays pretty warm until at least December. Even still, I always try to incorporate some of the autumnal activities and things I can to create my own little fall✨🎃🍁
