If autumn had an official tradition, it would easily be the sleepover.

There’s something about fall evenings that makes you want to hide away in your best friend’s bedroom, surrounded by fluffy blankets, glossy magazines, bowls of buttery popcorn, vanilla candles, and a stack of early 2000s movies/tv shows you already know by heart. The world outside goes all quiet, and for one night it feels like nothing exists except giggling until your stomach hurts, swapping little secrets, eating way too many sweet things, and making the kind of memories that end up feeling nostalgic before the night is even over.

So light the candles, put on your cutest pyjamas, and let’s create the ultimate 2000s inspired autumn girls’ night.

• Pile the bed with fluffy blankets and mismatched cushions, switch on fairy lights instead of the main light, and keep the room warm. Bonus points if it’s raining outside!

• Make a snack board filled with your favourite autumn themed treats (anything like candy corn, reeses, popcorn, works well!)

• If you want to be a little more extra, buy some autumn/halloween themed decor like pumpkins, ghosts, bats and spider webs.

• Light a cinnamon or pumpkin spice scented candle to complete the vibe!!

• Oversized hoodies, plaid pyjama bottoms, fuzzy socks, messy buns, camisoles and your favourite Victoria’s Secret PINK or Hollister hoodie. (The more comfortable everyone is, the more authentic it feels).

• Look for cozy and soft pyjamas made in plaid patterns with burgundy, navy, grey, and white shades.

• Some really good brands to find 2000s themed pjs (like the ones shown are):

  • Victoria’s Secret PINK
  • Hollister
  • Aeropostale
  • Abercombie & Fitch

• Skip ordering takeout and have fun trying to make a pizza together.

• Use ready made pizza bases and decorate them with little ghosts made from mozzarella, olive spiders, pumpkin shaped pepperoni, or even tiny bat cut outs using cheese.

• If you want to go one step further, you could even shape the dough to cook in the shapes of bats, pumpkins, or ghosts.

• It’s surprisingly easy, and somehow homemade pizza always tastes better during a sleepover!

• It is not a 2000’s sleepover without the movies and series made in the time itself.

• Some autumn movie ideas include: Twilight (all 3), Coraline, Harry Potter, Autumn in New York, Dead Poets Society, Good Will Hunting, Fantastic Mr Fox and Practical Magic.

• Some iconic 2000s TV Shows I recommend are: Pretty Little Liars, Gilmore Girls, The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Gossip Girl, Buffy The Vampire Slayer and One Tree Hill.

• Keep them playing in the background to set the vibe while everyone chats, snacks, and gets cozy!!

Nothing makes a house feel more like autumn than cinnamon.

• Whether you bake them from scratch or use ready to bake dough, fill the kitchen with warm cinnamon, vanilla, and sugar!!

• Eat them fresh out of the oven with mugs of hot chocolate while watching another episode of Gilmore Girls.

• I have the perfect recipe for Vanilla Glazed Cinnamon Rolls in my “Angels Kitchen” page, so feel free to check that out!!

• Put on your oldest hoodie, lay newspaper across the table, and spend an hour carving pumpkins together.

• Go for cute ghosts, stars, smiley faces, or classic jack o’ lanterns. If you’re not sure what design to do, have a quick search on pinterest for some inspiration!

• And if you’re unable to carve pumpkins, painting them is just as cute!!

• Once they’re finished, light them up outside and take a few flash photos. They’ll become some of your favourite autumn memories.

No 2000s girls’ night is complete without beauty rituals.

• Put on your favourite sheet masks and watch a movie together! (I recommend doing this after you’ve had snacks though so it doesn’t get in the way)

• You could even make if a full at home spa night by painting each others nails and doing your hair!!

• This part of the sleepover is less about the products and more about laughing at how ridiculous everyone looks in face masks.

  • Fairy lights & blankets
  • Matching pyjamas
  • Homemade spooky pizzas
  • Hot chocolate & cinnamon rolls
  • Face masks & lip gloss
  • Gilmore Girls or The Vampire Diaries
  • Pumpkins to carve
  • Autumn playlist
  • A digital camera for flash photos
  • Popcorn, sweets & autumn snacks
  • Vanilla or cinnamon candles
  • Your favourite girls

• If you want the ultimate fall feeling sleepover, I recommend you make a list of even more activities you could do together, so you can be extra prepared!
