How To Achieve A 2000s coded Summer

Activities:

- Visit fairs, carnivals, or amusement parks
- Keep a summer journal
- Host sleepovers
- Create a “summer bucket list”

Dont’s:

- Don’t spend the whole time on your phone.
- Don’t stay indoors all day.

Lifestyle:
Morning Habits:
Wake up before 9am most days
Summer mornings have a special feeling that disappears by noon.
Stretch or do gentle yoga
Not to burn calories. To feel graceful, energised, and connected to your body!
Take a morning walk
Even 20-30 minutes can make a day feel fuller and more intentional.
Prepare summery breakfasts
Fruit, yogurt, toast, smoothies. Breakfasts with intention and effort, make them look pretty!! Don’t just grab random snacks at 1pm
Mind Habits:
Always have a summer book!!
Keep a paperback in your bag or by your bed. Being halfway through a good book all summer is peak 2000s energy.
Keep a real journal
Try to write not only about your feelings but everything you’ve experienced during summer so far!! , some ideas include:
- Summer memories
- Crushes
- Funny conversations
- Future dreams
- Books you’ve read
- Movies you’ve seen
Decorate it with: Ticket stubs, polaroids, magazine cutouts, song lyrics, quotes from friends, summer bucket lists, and anything sentimental!
Feed your curiosity
Read magazines, look up dream destinations, learn new recipes, explore astrology, or fall into random internet rabbit holes. The internet used to be for exploring and not only endless scrolling.
Make lists
Summer goals, books to read, movies to watch, places to visit, dream life plans. A colourful notebook full of lists feels very 2000s.
Be present & Live in the moment
Listen to music, stare out the window, imagine your future, and let your mind wander. Try to live your summer presently and not through your screens!!
Health Habits:

Get out of the house every day!!
A lot of 2000s exercise wasn’t specifically “exercise”, It was:
- Walking around town for hours
- Going shopping
- Bike rides
- Beach days
- Exploring with friends
- Dancing in your room (the best 2000s workout in my opinion)
Get a little sunshine
Open your curtains, sit outside and read in the garden. The 2000s summer glow came from spending time in the real world.
Have a sleep schedule
Stay up talking, reading, or watching movies sometimes, sure. But try not to turn summer into sleeping until noon every day.

On the days you have “nothing to do”:
Make a soundtrack
Create a 2000s inspired playlist and listen to music while getting ready, cleaning, walking, or looking out the car window. Bonus points for replaying your favourite songs, people played the same 10 songs until they became part of the summer.
Read magazines or magazine style content
Beauty tips.
Quizzes.
Fashion spreads.
Celebrity interviews.
That slightly chaotic “teen magazine afternoon” feeling is very 2000s.
Make lists
It could be lists for anything!! Consider: summer goals, books to read, movies to watch, places to visit, dream life plans, bucket lists, to do lists, etc!
Have a spontaneous meet up with your friends
Sometimes the best plans are made when we don’t overthink them. It could be as random as getting a few snacks and sitting on the beach or your local park, going for long walks together, or having a little garden bbq.
Go down random curiosity rabbit holes
Look up:
- Dream holiday destinations
- Fashion trends
- Astrology
- Celebrities
- History facts
- Recipes you’ll probably never make
The internet used to feel like exploring, rather than endless scrolling.

The Fashion:

(2000s Summer Edition)
The secret to 2000s fashion is that it wasn’t trying to look effortless. It was fun, girly, colourful, and a little extra.
Oversized sunglasses: The bigger, the better. Bonus points if they’re white, tinted, or covered in rhinestones.
Low rise everything:
Low rise jeans, low rise shorts, low rise skirts. The 2000s waistline lived much lower than today’s.
Flared foldover yoga pants: Especially in black, pink, grey, or baby blue. Pair them with fitted tanks, baby tees, or zip up hoodies.
Denim on repeat
The 2000s were basically powered by denim.
Think: Mini denim skirts, flared/bootcut jeans, capris, denim shorts, denim jackets and even handbags!
Wear bright colours: Pink, turquoise, lime green, orange, baby blue, yellow. The 2000s loved colour and weren’t afraid of it.
Mini skirts: Denim, pleated, tiered, ruffled. The shorter and cuter, the better.
Tube tops & camis: Simple tube tops, lace trim camis, and fitted tanks were summer staples.
Baby tees: Tiny fitted graphic tees with cute slogans, butterflies, hearts, cherries, or sparkly details.
Rhinestones everywhere: On tops, jean pockets bags, belts, sunglasses, tracksuits, and even phone cases.
Cute bags: Shoulder bags tucked under your arm, especially in bright colours or glossy materials.
Mix sporty and girly:
Tracksuits with hoop earrings.
Mini skirts with trainers.
Foldover yoga pants with a cute tank.
Accessorize: Hoop earrings, charm bracelets, layered necklaces, hair clips, chunky rings and butterfly details.
