Have you ever walked past a girl with the perfect messy ponytail, ballet flats on, a lace trimmed cami and the faintest hint of vanilla perfume, and thought, how does she make everything look so cool?

I mean, she probably has Lana Del Rey’s unreleased songs playing in her headphones, an old hollister hoodie thrown somewhere in her wardrobe and a camera roll full of blurry sunsets, pretty coffee cups and pictures she took because the lighting was way too good to ignore. She watches Sofia Coppola movies like there’s no tomorrow, knows every word to her favourite 2000s songs and somehow manages to make even a walk to the supermarket a scene from a coming of age film.

Maybe you’ve always admired that girl, maybe aspects of her are already within you. Or maybe, you’re ready to romanticise your life and start your own girlblogger chapter.

Either way, you’ve come to the right place. And this is your official girlblogger handbook for mindset, personality, fashion and all of the easily missed details that make your life feel more beautiful.

Although the perfectly pink outfits, nostalgic playlists and aesthetically pleasing bedrooms are cute extras to becoming a girlblogger, it’s not the main part of it. The way you see the world and the little things you choose to notice is what it’s all about. Start to romanticise your daily life, stay authentic to yourself, and find beauty in the ordinary. Whether it’s taking photos and posting things you think are pretty or taking yourself on a solo study date at a local cafe, don’t let life pass you by. Those fleeting moments are way more precious then they may seem, even if it doesn’t feel like it yet.

Some very girlblogger personality/mindset traits include:

  • being sentimental over old clothes, photographs and keepsakes
  • having strong personal opinions about perfume, lip gloss, films and playlists
  • being comfortable doing things alone
  • being genuine rather than trying to impress everyone
  • being sweet and polite to everyone, regardless of status
  • being a little mysterious and keeping some things just for yourself
  • appreciating beauty in ordinary moments
  • believing your life should have a soundtrack
  • wearing what makes you feel pretty. even if it’s from ten years ago
  • letting yourself be nostalgic without wishing your life away
  • having hobbies purely because they make you happy
  • romanticising your life instead of waiting for something exciting to happen
  • protecting your peace without feeling the need to explain yourself

The key to girlblogger fashion is about looking like you didn’t spend hours deciding what you’re going to wear (even though you totally did). Think uggs with literally every outfit, lace camis peeking under henley tops, flared or bootcut jeans, little cardigans, and an old hollister hoodie that you’ve somehow kept for years but it still looks cute. Then follow it all up with some princess curls or a blowout, a mini shoulder bag, a tartan scarf and glossy lips. If you’re struggling to visualise it, some girlblogger fashion icons include: Dove Cameron, Lily Rose Depp, Lana Del Rey, Alison Dilaurentis, Lizzy Grant and Natalie Portman.

  1. Look for any clothes and shoes with lace detailing.
  2. Invest in button or bailey bow uggs
  3. Use shades like light pinks, browns and gloomy greys in your outfits.
  4. Use pinterest to help you plan and style your outfits.
  5. Do your makeup with lots of highlighter, light eyeshadow and lots of mascara.
  6. Start a collection of cute hoodies and babydoll tops!!

  2. to every girl that wishes to become a girlblogger please remember that this guide is only a GUIDE not something you have to follow 100% at all times. let ur true self shine thru that’s what does the charm <333333 you can incorporate all this into your life but dont loose yourself while doing it :))

  3. This is such an encouraging reminder that being a girlblogger is about authenticity! I really appreciate the point about letting your true self shine through. I wonder, what are some ways you all stay inspired while keeping true to yourselves in a sea of trends?

    • I think it’s about doing what you like and not what others do, if you really want to be yourself while keeping up with the trends, then you should think how can you turn these trends ‘yourse’, like adapting them into something you like and feels like you. I don’t know if it makes sense

  4. thats litterly the most perfect website ive ever seen! i tottaly agree on the personality part
for the coquaette and girlblogg aesthetic you need to be really feminine cute and very kind but also have a little twist of being a little quite! i relly try to do it all and buy all the clothes and style my hair and itnreally works! thank you for this guide! 🙂

    • omg so agree! this site is the best! i also followed the rules for like being kind and all but also quite i also like go out by myself to drink coffee and like having my nails done like some french and curled my ends also i could romanticized some of my basic shirts with some open up to the collarbone and with some jeans and uggs!
